The group starts on 22 September if at least 4 places are paid by 15 September. Otherwise we hold your place on the waitlist and start on 27 October instead.
Book the children's groupA beginner group — no pressure, no comparison
For adults
"I'm too old", "I have no talent" or "everyone else will be better" are the most common thoughts that stop adults from starting guitar. This group is built for complete beginners specifically: there's no upper age limit, no need to read music, and everyone in the room starts from the same point.
The Thursday evening after-work slot is designed to fit around a normal working day, not disrupt it. Across guitar schools in Riga, a large share of adult students are over 40 — there's no correct age to start.
For parents (children age 8 to 12)
The biggest parent worry is that a child gives up, feels awkward in a big group, or doesn't get enough attention. That's why this group holds only six same-age, same-level places, and the teacher tracks every child's progress each week.
The starting age is 8, a safer threshold for a group format — hand size, sustained attention and the ability to take turns are usually steadier by then. For younger children, an individual lesson is a better starting point.
A four-week path to your first shared song
Our aim is for the cohort to perform one simplified, recognisable song together by the end of the first four-class block.
Recommended home practice: 10 minutes, four days a week. A small, achievable step rather than a vague "practise often".

Group club or individual lesson?
Guitar Club
A fixed beginner curriculum, shared rhythm, ensemble confidence, community, a fixed weekly time. Ideal for starting from zero in a supportive setting.
Individual lesson
Personalised goals, faster correction, exam preparation, advanced technique, flexible repertoire and pacing. €59 for 60 minutes.
The club is a great way to start — and many learners go on to individual lessons afterwards. It isn't a discounted substitute for existing individual students; the two are different products for different goals.
Price, payment and cancellation, in one place
- The billing unit is four scheduled classes, not a calendar month — this stays clear even in five-week months and around school holidays.
- Payment in advance reserves your place for all four scheduled dates.
- Missed classes are not refunded, but you'll receive a concise recap and home practice material.
- A class cancelled by RPMS is replaced or credited.
- The cohort runs with at least four paid learners. If the minimum isn't met, we offer a new start date or a full refund.
- The €10 introduction fee is fully credited to your first block if you enrol within 48 hours of attending it.
Safety in the children's group
- A clear drop-off and collection routine for every class
- The teacher is checked through Latvia's official Sodu reģistrs
- Photography or video is only used with separate parental consent — never a condition of taking part
- Direct communication with parents about how classes are going
- Left-handed instrument support available — just let us know when you book

Frequently asked questions about the Guitar Club
Do I need to read music to join?+
No. The group is built for complete beginners — no prior knowledge of music notation or guitar playing is required.
How many people are in one group?+
A maximum of six. The group runs once at least four places are paid, which keeps the teacher's attention on every learner.
Do I need to bring my own guitar?+
No, it's not required. You can bring a suitable acoustic guitar, borrow an RPMS guitar during class (subject to availability), or get in touch about rental options for home practice.
What happens if I miss a class?+
Missed classes aren't refunded, but you'll get a concise recap and home practice material so you don't fall behind the group.
How is this different from a cheap municipal guitar club?+

No, there's no upper age limit. You can start guitar at any age, and a large share of adult students across Riga's guitar schools are over 40.
Why does the children's group start at age 8 and not earlier?+

What happens if the group doesn't reach the minimum number of learners?+
If there aren't enough paid places by the deadline, we offer a new start date or a full refund of what was paid — we never run a group that isn't viable.
Are the classes taught in Latvian?+
Yes, the Guitar Club is taught in Latvian. RPMS also offers individual lessons in English and Russian.
How does the €10 introduction lesson work?+
The introduction is 60 minutes (adults) or 45 minutes (children), with a guitar provided. If you enrol in the full four-class block within 48 hours of attending, the €10 is fully credited against the block price.
Can I continue after the first block?+
Yes. At the end of the block you can continue into the club's next level, join a song ensemble, move to an individual lesson, or try a recording or performance workshop.
