We are delighted to share that Linda Boida and Professor Pols Boids MBE, founders of Rīgas Privātā Mūzikas Skola, appeared together as guests on episode six of "Ceļš uz Miljonu".
In an episode titled "Why We Teach Music the 'Wrong' Way?", the pair discussed how conventional instrumental teaching is so often practised, and how that convention can hinder rather than help a pupil's progress. The conversation turned to matters of real concern to any parent or student: how discipline is properly built, and how the enjoyment of making music is kept alive for the long term.
We so often teach an instrument as though discipline and enjoyment were opposed to one another. In truth they are the same thing: taught properly, every step that demands effort brings its own satisfaction with it. That is what we try to teach every one of our students.
